Lord of the Squirrels by Chvickers Rated: FRT-13 [Reviews - 0]
Summary: Julian helps Miles after Keiko's untimely death. It takes places 16 months after "What You Leave Behind" (WYLB), which is the series finale of Star Trek: DS9.

Recommender's comments: This is the first story I read by this author when I was desperate to find good long B/O'B stories that didn't become O'Brien can't leave his wife and Julian is with Garak stories. I found this by mere chance and I am happy to never regret this which I tell the author everytime I read her stories. It is set post-series which is a favorite of mine no matter which fandom. The story starts with Keiko's funeral and you could say this is a light angst read but it isn't, it is sad in parts but is also funny and sweet too and especially with minor characters such as Julian's mom. I think it is really about the transitions of Miles, Bashir and peripherally the children as well. It is basically about how time can change things, let go let you move on. It is where moving on means Julian and Miles can travel the same road together.

I posted on top the link to entire story (text file) but you can get the nicer version (html) here: Lord of the Squirrels where you can comment to the writer herself.

Denouement by Jill Rated: FRC [Reviews - 0]
Summary: Returning home was the central dream of the 4077 crew, but for some the rebuilding is more difficult than it seems.

Recommender's comments: This is the story I read at least every month because of the rarity of the pairing but the writing is so lovely as I can't come up with another word. It is about how two men can't seem to fit in the lives they left behind and by serendipity found a new life to go together. I love a slight realism in focused timelines, such as is still the 1950 where there tension to be anything different than white protestant, in this case "heterosexual" male and while the tension of the time is in the background she tells us it is there but doesn't walk into that mire but instead stays with Benjamin and Charles each dealing with life after MASH. When they meet, you know that they found a certain quietness to each other's restlessness.

I know if MASH is your fandom of choice that it is easy to try the main OTP Hawkeye/Trapper or Hawkeye/Hunnicut but hoping that you take the time to read this, you could see another possibility. This story is also the reason and slight basis for my own ongoing Hawkeye/Winchester series 1953.

The Poker Night Series by Ruth Devero Rated: FRAO [Reviews - 0]
Summary: It starts off with a night of poker and it turns into something more.

Recommender's comments: Oh, I love this series for many reasons but I won't lie, the biggest reason: it's long as in novel length and I am attracted to that like a honeybee to flowers. You know how some stories are long but say nothing this is different. While the first two sections are PWP the rest is romance progression, actual cases and the return of an enemy. It really has everything I ever want from a story and a writer. I just wish there was more like this.
